About ROTCScholar

ROTCScholar is an independent directory and college-search tool for students and families considering the Reserve Officers' Training Corps. We unify fragmented data from the Army, Navy, and Air Force unit locators with federal datasets (IPEDS, College Scorecard, VA Yellow Ribbon) to give you a single, comparable view of every host unit, cross-town partner, and scholarship in the country.

We are not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Defense or any branch of the U.S. military. We don't republish .gov copy. We don't accept paid placement from universities. Where we surface signals from public community discussions, we aggregate only — never names, never verbatim posts.

What we cover

• ~485 host units (Army battalions, NROTC units, AFROTC detachments)
• ~1,500 colleges and universities
• ~2,800 cross-town affiliations — the data nobody else publishes cleanly
• Branch scholarship application windows, board cycles, and eligibility
• State, branch, major, and military-college lenses

How we're built

Data is ingested manually by us into PocketBase, reconciled against IPEDS UNITID as the canonical institution key, and surfaced via Next.js. We use Mapbox for geocoding, the College Scorecard API for tuition and selectivity, DVIDS for public-domain photography, and a set of branch-specific scrapers we maintain.
